The Turtle Beach X1 is one of two in the wired line up made exclusively for the Xbox 360 by Turtle Beach there are also two wireless versions one which comes with Dolby 7.1 surround sound. I recently picked up a pair of these from the local Best Buy and was a little skeptical at first, i have heard good thing about them but was not sure if i would like them compared to my TV's standard speakers.

The first thing I noticed and was happy about right out of the package was the cord, it is 16 feet long and allows you to sit far or close to the TV so the headset will suit many playing styles.
The X1 connects to your TV by using a piggyback between your Xbox's AV cables which then connects to the headphone jack and is powered by using the Xbox's USB. (Pictured Below)

Once you have connected your headset then you can find your desired length and use the included strap to wrap up the excess wires if there is any, this strap is connected right to the cable so you will never have to worry about losing it.

The sound is controlled by the included amplifier built right into the cord which also connects to your controller just like the Xbox standard wired headset and allows you to control both game and voice chat volume independently and also allows you to mute your chat via the amplifier in the cable. These two functions work flawlessly and allow you to customize your gaming experience even further.

Now onto the sound, the game sound is flawless it sounds great and is clear and loud if wanted, the voice chat is a bit muffled but i believe this is more due to the game and voice sounds being so close to your ears but once again you can customize the levels of each and make this less of a issue.
The ear cups on the headset allow for a near oblivious gaming environment i have countless times had people talking to me and trying to get my attention and i cannot hear them they block sound very well even when not receiving game audio. The headset also would allow you to watch movies in peace or without waking everyone in the house which is also a plus.

(Ear Cups are large and comfy and block sound well)
The mic is really adjustable and very clear to all those who will hear you. The mic mute is easy to find and use and the mic flips out of the way if needed which is a must for those who eat/drink and game.
Another great feature i love about this headset is the ability to switch from using the headset to using the TV audio simply turn the headset volume down and start using the TV or vice versa.
I think this headset excel very well for those looking for a all in one unit for either convenience or for late night gaming sessions they are excellent for full time use as well. Another plus is they can also be used for a PC as well as they come with the connections to do so.

Overall i would give these a 4/5 and say if your looking for a good headset (for yourself or others) in the $40-60 range then i don't believe you can beat these.
